Malware that isn't running has a harder time avoiding the detection of known files as well as unwanted registry and settings changes. I'm a big fan of using a bootable USB drive loaded with a free program like BitDefender. You've done one, and you might try another one using a different program. No clue as to what the on-screen keyboard issue is, but almost any kind of behavior like that would cause me to do a malware scan. Have you checked Event Viewer to see if there are any time-stamped clues to what's going on around the time of the restart? If you have that option checked and there's a BSOD just before the system restarts you may never know why it's happening it'll just keep restarting after things go bad. The default position of Windows seems to be to automatically restart on system failure. Is there anything that I can do to resolve that beyond just keep restarting and hoping that it just stops failing? UPDATE: I think I found the source of the problem, I just received a notice from Windows that the last update failed. One other strange thing I've noticed is that signing in after the automatic reset has the digital keyboard open on my desktop. My antivirus isn't picking up anything either and I don't want to go messing around too much with the system without a bit of guidance. I thought it might have been because I was having some trouble installing the last windows update, but I finally got it installed properly and the issue is still occurring regularly.
